The Quikclot Combat Gauze dressing contains a sterile folded gauze impregnated with the inorganic substance kaolin.

Kaolin is a substance that effectively accelerates the coagulation process and has the ability to stop arterial and venous bleeding in a short time, usually after a few seconds. Other advantages of Combat Gauze are that it does not react with the environment, is not allergenic or generates heat.
