Nordic 10 Stand-Alone Optical Smoke Detector

Optical high-quality smoke alarm. The 3V lithium battery is tested and manufactured to last the entire life of the smoke alarm, i.e. up to 10 years.

An optical smoke alarm works by detecting smoke entering the alarm section, but will not detect heat, flames or gas. It is built to provide early warning of possible fires and does so by a strong audible signal via the alarm system that is built in.

Keep in mind that it may be worth installing a smoke alarm in every room where someone sleeps with a door closed. This is because a closed door can block smoke and smoke alarms in other rooms may not wake the sleeper.
